Aonach Eagach : Hiking in Scotland

The Aonach Eagach ridge is located in Glen Coe, in the Scottish Highlands. It is also known as one of the scariest hikes in the world. The Aonach Eagach ridge reached 953m high and is definitely not for the feint hearted.

Aonach Eagach is rated as a grade two scramble, so previous experience in this type of terrain is definitely pre-requisite. Having the correct hiking gear is also important with many hiker preferring ropes and supports to traverse the mountain.

The Aonach Eagach ridge is a mere 6 miles to complete, yet it will take most of the day to complete due to the level of difficulty, so starting early is a must. You dont want to fight the dark and trail! Care has to be taken as several deaths have been reported including very experienced hikers, so stay safe out there.

Needless to say, the ridge has some of the greatest views including the famous Ben Nevis mountain range and the 3 Sisters to boot.
